Fall 2010 Sunday SchoolLiving Hope PCA will begin Sunday School classes this fall on Sunday, September 12, 2010. Living Hope will join together elementary, middle school, high school and adult Sunday School students into one inter-generational class. The 13-lesson study titled "The Righteous Shall Live By Faith" will be on the Ten Commandments. Each commandment is studied in its historical context, both specifically and generally, as the themes of law and grace are taught. Small group discussions take place within the lesson time, as well as, at the end of the lesson. The final group discussion time for each lesson is presented in a game format. The curriculum, published by "Children Desiring God," (a ministry of Bethlehem Baptist Church, John Piper) is accompanied by a Family Devotional Guide that is designed to help families further their understanding and application of the lesson material. No one is left out; families will serve as the core for small groups with other adults joining in, allowing members to better know others of all ages in our church family. Inter-generational teaching dose not "dumb down" the material for children or teach over their heads. Rather, it consciously takes into account the fact that there are learners of different ages and experiences, and seeks to teach the hearts of all. Inter-generational teaching benefits both adults and children. It even provides opportunity for both generations to understand the material differently and benefit from a different perspective. It is a unique opportunity for the young to learn from the old and for the old to learn from the young. |
